About Our Program
The El Centro College Dental Hygiene program is a 68-credit hour curriculum leading to an Associate of Applied Sciences degree. A graduate of the program is eligible to take the National Board Dental Hygiene Examination (NBDHE) and a regional clinical board in order to apply for licensure by the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners to become a Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH). The El Centro College Dental Hygiene Program has been granted the accreditation status of approval without reporting requirements by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation (ADA CODA). The next Program site visit by the Commission is scheduled for 2019.
The ADA CODA will accept comments from students and patients about our Program. All comments submitted must pertain to the standards relative to the Program or policies and procedures used in the accreditation process.
A copy of the Dental Hygiene Educational Standards, the Commission's policies and procedures used in the accreditation process, and the policy on third party comments are available for review.
